A hard disk using a SATA interface is also called a serial hard disk. The biggest advantage of SATA is the high transmission rate. From the appearance, the SATA3.0 and SATA2.0 interfaces on the motherboard are basically the same, but many motherboards will be marked with different colors in order to distinguish the SATA 2.0 and SATA 3.0 hard disk interface types. Most motherboards that support the STA3.0 interface are black in SATA 2.0 and yellow/white/blue in SATA3.0.
SATA2.0 and SATA3.0 motherboard hard disk interface appearance is basically the same, many low-end motherboards still use SATA 2.0 and SATA 3.0 dual interface hybrid mode, like AMD platform A75, Intel platform B75, H81, B85 motherboard are SATA 2.0 and SATA 3.0 Dual interface mixed mode, and some high-end motherboards, such as A88, H87, Z87 and other motherboards are all SATA3.0 interface.
The main difference between SATA2.0 and SATA3.0 interface types is that the transmission rate is different. The latest SATA3 transmission rate can reach 6Gb/s, while the SATA2.0 interface has a transmission rate of 3Gb/s. At the transmission rate, the SATA2.0 hard disk interface has been unable to meet the needs of SSDs and some Qualcomm mechanical hard disks.
It should be noted that the best reading speed for the hard disk depends not only on the hard disk but also on the hard disk interface. In other words, as long as the hard disk supports sata 3.0 interface, and the hard disk of this computer is connected to the motherboard supporting sata 3.0 interface, the old computer hard disk itself can only support sata 2.0. Even if this kind of hard disk is connected to the SATA 3.0 motherboard, the speed is still the speed of SATA2, because the hard disk itself is a hard injury.
Similarly, if the hard disk supports SATA3.0, but the motherboard only has SATA2.0 interface, then the actual speed of the hard disk is only the speed of SATA2.0. This requires special attention, both of which must meet the conditions at the same time. Like the current mainstream mechanical hard disk and SSD are SATA3.0 interface, especially the solid state hard disk is SATA3.0 interface, when users choose SSD, just select the motherboard that supports SATA3.0 interface.
