Ultra320 SCSI, also named Ultra4 SCSI LVD, is a relatively new SCSI interface standard. Ultra320 SCSI is developed on the basis of Ultra160 SCSI. The advantages of Ultra160 SCSI continue to be promoted. The three key technologies of Ultra160 SCSI:double conversion clock control, cyclic redundancy check and domain name confirmation, are retained. In the previous SCSI interface standard, the SCSI interface supported two transmission modes: asynchronous and synchronous. Ultra320 SCSI introduces a pacing transfer mode, which simplifies the data clock logic and makes the Ultra320 SCSI high transfer speed possible. The Ultra320 SCSI transfer rate can reach 320MB/s. Ultra320 SCSI has the following main features:
(1) Double rate data transmission, the data transmission rate is doubled compared to Ultra160 SCSI;
(2) Packetized SCSI, supporting packet protocol
(3) Rapid arbitration and selection, greatly improving the utilization of the bus
(4) Read and write data streams to minimize the overhead of data transmission
(5) Flow control to improve bus utilization.
